Welcome to Canyon Psychology

Therapy that’s steady, honest, and deeply human.

Life gets complex. Patterns repeat. Emotions stack. And sometimes we lose sight of what we need or who we’re becoming. We’re here to help you slow down, understand the deeper layers, and find clarity where things feel tangled.

Meet Anahid Oungoulian, PsyD

Anahid is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in psychodynamic and relational therapy. Her work focuses on helping clients uncover patterns, build emotional awareness, and create meaningful, sustainable change.

She brings a grounded, perceptive presence to every session, equal parts clarity, compassion, and curiosity.

Before starting Canyon Psychology, Anahid spent years working with adults and adolescents in community mental health, clinics, and county programs. She has extensive experience supporting people navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, identity exploration, family systems, and complex life transitions. Notable expertise with immigrants, children of immigrants, and LGBTQ+ community members. (More below)

Her style is collaborative, thoughtful, and deeply human. No judgment. No jargon for jargon’s sake. Just honest work that moves at the pace of real life.

Laughing, crying, and swearing are all welcome. Just come as your true self.

PHILOSOPHY & APPROACH

Canyon’s approach blends psychodynamic depth, relational warmth, and feminist-informed awareness.

We believe real change doesn’t come from quick fixes or surface-level advice, it comes from understanding your inner world, your patterns, and the stories you’ve carried.

Our work helps you explore what’s underneath your emotions and behaviors, so you can build new ways of responding to life.

Every session is collaborative.

Every insight is earned.

And every shift, big or small, becomes part of a larger process of becoming more fully yourself.

A space shaped by inclusivity and lived experience

Canyon Psychology holds space for a wide range of identities and experiences including LGBTQIA+ folks, first-gen and immigrant clients, women exploring identity or autonomy, and anyone navigating the friction between who they’ve been and who they’re becoming.

We approach every client with cultural humility, feminist-informed awareness, and an understanding that identity and environment deeply shape mental health.

You don’t have to explain the basics here.

You can just show up as you are.

If this feels like a breath of fresh air, let’s talk.
